The Medical Group provides a wide range of offerings, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, and urgent care, both digitally as well as at physical locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. We share the commitment to delivering a coordinated and comprehensive experience across all locations, ensuring the appropriate level of care is available to every patient across our care delivery sites. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our Orthopedic/Sports Medicine team! This position is onsite Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team treats the full spectrum of sports related injuries and orthopedic conditions, from common injuries to the most complex. We offer a range of services such as sports conditioning, physical therapy, injury prevention, and surgical/non-surgical treatments. This role will float between our busy practices at 288 Groveland Street in Haverhill and 231 Sutton Street in North Andover, supporting a collaborative team of approximately 14 providers and 40 clinical and non-clinical staff who care for nearly 90 patients daily across both locations. Our Medical Assistants partner alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff who value teamwork, respect, and continuous learning. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • 1-2 years Direct MA experience or medical field work required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
  • Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - preferred
  • A strong foundation—whether through completion of a Medical Assistant course or diploma program, or at least one year of hands‑on professional experience—is highly valued.
  • National MA certification (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
