About The Position

Southwoods Health is seeking a professional Medical Assistant to support our Orthopedic and Rheumatology group. In this role, you will work with a dedicated clinical team, partnering with physicians to deliver comprehensive, high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for a wide range of skilled clinical and administrative duties in a high-volume specialty setting.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a diploma.
• Active certification through one of the following: RMA (American Medical Technologists) CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) CCMA (National Healthcareer Association)
• Minimum of one (1) year of direct work experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Patient Intake: Room patients efficiently using two patient identifiers; obtain and record vital signs, chief complaints, medications, and allergies in the EMR.
• Specialty Support: Assist physicians with specialty-specific exams and procedures common in Orthopedics and Rheumatology.
• Clinical Communication: Promptly report and record critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information to the physician and team.
• Laboratory Procedures: Collect and store specimens according to protocol; prepare lab specimens for transport while maintaining positive identification.
• Administrative Operations: Schedule appointments, manage phone inquiries, maintain medical records, and perform other office duties as assigned.
• Patient Experience: Create a welcoming environment through exceptional customer service and support of patient rights and responsibilities.
• Compliance: Ensure all processes at the practice maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and uphold HIPAA standards.
