About The Position

Our Walworth clinics offer the unique opportunity to work in a close-knit, rural environment with an onsite and supportive leadership team. Provides support with the daily activities of a medical office by performing the following duties and other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime during peak periods.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or graduate of a medical assistant program in a post secondary school or college that has institutional accreditation by a regional accrediting commission or by a national accrediting organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education, or a graduate of an educational program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Experience in a program with a clinical rotation preferred.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR
  • Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.
  • Licensed as an LPN in the State of Practice
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.
  • Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures.
  • Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects.
  • Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler.
  • Conducts reminder calls to all patients.
  • Greet and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.
  • Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate.
  • Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart.
  • Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
  • Collects payment from patients and issues receipt where applicable.
  • Prepares and maintains patient charts.
  • Maintains and orders supplies.
  • Collects patient data and documents in the medical record.
  • Administers injections and medications as ordered and directed.
  • Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient.
  • Documents according to standards of care.
  • Provides patient treatments as ordered.
  • Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the provider orRN.
  • Perform the duties of a clinic LPN within alignment to LPN scope of practice.
  • Assist with clinic projects and assignments and nursing initiatives.
  • May provide feedback for evaluation or participate in peer review.
  • Assists with preparation of staff for surveys.
  • Monitors compliance with clinic initiatives as assigned
  • Administers specified medications and nursing interventions as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.
  • Reinforces patient teaching provided by Provider and RN.
  • Provides basic healthcare instruction to family and patient.
  • Performs EKG's and simple lab tests as needed.
  • Performs venipuncture to collect blood specimens.
  • Participates in QA & I.
