Part time will have a start shift time between the hours of 9AM-10AM and with an end shift time between the hours of 2PM-3PM. POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Check-In Assistant position is responsible for monitoring the physician's office schedules, starting office visit notes as patients arrive, and updating the patient's chart with medication updates, vital signs, and allergies prior to the patient seeing the physician. This position is also responsible for checking the orders tab and following protocol to complete ECGs as needed. Additionally, this position is responsible for placing patients in exam rooms in a timely and organized manner and performs or coordinates with other inner-office departments for any necessary testing that the physician requires for the patient.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed and graduated from a Medical Assistant, Electrocardiogram Technician, or equivalent program.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of medical practice and patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
  • Skill in taking vitals and ECG’s.
  • Ability to travel to all office locations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office or health care field as a Medical Assistant or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working in a Cardiology office preferred.
  • Medical terminology and familiarity with cardiac medications strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Brings arrived patients back according to the patient's scheduled appointment time.
  • Requests recent medication list from patient or offers them a medication card to complete and then reviews medications with patient to ensure accuracy.
  • Takes and records patient's vital signs.
  • Obtains updated information from patient, such as recent hospitalizations, recent cardiac tests from other facilities, allergies/reactions, and pharmacy name/location.
  • Ensures patient's chart is updated with all pertinent information prior to their appointment.
  • Reviews patient's orders tab to check for needed ECG or any other necessary testing during appointment.
  • Checks and follows up on in process assignments weekly.
  • Responsible for refills in both Faxcom and the EMR system(s).
  • Stocks cubbies with necessary supplies.
  • Ensures ECG machines are continuously working properly.
  • Checks the schedule for each day to review scheduled patients and confirm the physicians that are in the office.
  • Responsible for checking the physician's folders and distributing items.
  • Coordinates with other inner-office departments for requested checks and testing.
  • Maintains and stocks the back-office area, samples closet and exam rooms.
  • Responsible for plugging in and powering off laptops at the end of each clinic day.
  • Works with department point of contact to keep patient flow organized and efficient.
  • Assists other departments with patients and task assignments.
  • Updates Reps phone numbers and ensures they are accurate.
  • Maintains clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Other duties as assigned per the need of the organization and within scope of licensure.
