May perform diagnostic testing, maintain supply inventory levels, and clean and maintain medical equipment. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant experience, or CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care, beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take and document vital signs, and prepare patients for provider exam.
  • Administer medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing.
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as EKGs, audiograms, typanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings as instructed and document in EPIC EMR.
  • Review both Provider refill in basket and assist with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
  • Review EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
  • Review result note in basket and call/inform patients of normal lab results.
  • Ensure rooms are properly stocked and supplies are current and within expiration dates.
  • Clean patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
  • Ensure laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens on a daily basis.
  • Follow directions given by nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Follow clinic protocols.
  • Provide patients with educational materials as directed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follow the core competencies set forth by the Company.
  • Work holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.
  • Answer incoming phone calls coming into nursing triage, determining if the call is low acuity or high acuity by demonstrating strong listening skills.
  • Assist patient in a non-clinical situation if able, otherwise forward to the appropriate clinical staff member on duty if the call requires any clinical intervention.
  • Handle inquiries related to ADD symptoms/questions, medication refill requests, referral questions, requests for copies of lab or immunization records, requests for lab releasing to my chart, lab results if signed off by provider, general calls from pharmacies and medication not covered by their insurance.
  • Utilize smart phrases when taking any phone messages and routing directly to the provider.
  • Post patient test results through patient’s mychart portal.
  • Refill medication following the ARC refill protocols.
  • Assist providers with procedures by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after exam.
  • Obtain applicable consents and complete all necessary documentation in EPIC EMR.
  • Maintain equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc).
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the unlicensed personnel as assigned.
