About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Assistant to join our small OB/GYN office in Scottsdale, AZ. The ideal candidate will be quick on their feet, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing compassionate care to our patients. This full-time position involves both administrative and clinical duties, ensuring a smooth operation within the practice while delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a medical assistant, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certification or diploma from an accredited medical assistant program.
  • EMR/EHR experience, Athena preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and checking them in.
  • Scheduling appointments and managing the physician's calendar.
  • Answering phone calls and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintaining and updating patient records, including medical histories and insurance information.
  • Handling lab orders and coding tasks.
  • Managing electronic health records (EHR) systems (Athena).
  • Taking patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
  • Preparing patients for medical tests and procedures.
  • Drawing blood for laboratory tests and collecting other specimens.
  • Administering medications or injections under the direction of a physician.
  • Performing basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and glucose monitoring.
  • Sterilizing medical instruments and ensuring proper sanitation protocols.
  • Providing patient education on topics like medication instructions, diet, and lifestyle changes.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms or progress.
  • Assisting in the coordination of patient care, including referrals to specialists and scheduling follow-up appointments.
