About The Position

Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant across multiple locations including Farmington, Layton Antelope A, Layton Antelope B, Syracuse, Roy, Layton Parkway, East Layton, and Westside (Clinton). The position offers various specialties such as Family Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Urgent Care, ENT, and Internal Medicine, with full-time and part-time options available. A $500 hiring bonus is offered for this role.

Requirements

  • Current documentation of a national certification for the registered medical assistant (RMA) or for the certified assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Will consider graduates from formal education programs.
  • Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
  • Recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Must be capable of handling multiple tasks effectively and able to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate compassion and understanding for the patient and caring parties.
  • Possess pleasant and effective written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper patient satisfaction by attending to their medical needs as determined by the attending physician.
  • Perform vital signs and obtain patient medical histories.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for prescriptions and procedures.
  • Maintain strict patient, computer, and company confidentiality.
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow, fulfilling prescription requests, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, venipunctures and specimen collection, obtaining patient history, performing screenings per provider guidelines, assisting physicians with various procedures, charting, relaying instructions to patients/families, answering calls, and providing pertinent information.
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned, including respecting/promoting patient rights, responding appropriately to emergency codes, and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
  • Fulfill clinical medical assisting responsibilities, which may include medical/surgical asepsis, clinical pharmacology, drug administration through various routes including injections, prescription verifications with physician's orders, minor surgery assists, biohazard waste disposal and monitoring, therapeutic modalities, CLIA-waived testing, capillary punctures, specimen handling, electrocardiography, emergency triage, and first aid.
  • Other duties as assigned.
