About The Position

We’re hiring a Medical Assistant to join our Mohs Surgery team in Duluth, GA! In this role, you’ll provide hands-on surgical support to our dermatologists and patients during Mohs procedures. This is a full-time, outpatient position with no nights or weekends required. Monday-Thursday | 6:45 AM - 4:00 PM. Requirements

  • Able to triage patient concerns.
  • Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
  • Experience administering injections.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Knowledge of office financial policies.
  • Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization.
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant track preferred.
  • CPR certified preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain intake, record vital signs, and prepare them for Mohs surgery.
  • Set up and maintain sterile surgical trays, instruments, and equipment.
  • Assist providers directly with Mohs micrographic surgery, including tissue handling, bandaging, wound care, and suture assistance.
  • Prepare, label, and route pathology/lab specimens per insurance guidelines.
  • Provide patient education on pre- and post-operative instructions.
  • Scribe provider notes and accurately document patient information in EMA (EHR).
  • Maintain infection control protocols, sterilize instruments, and manage supply inventory.
  • Support administration of local anesthetics under provider direction.
  • Monitor and restock surgical suites and supply rooms.
  • Respond to patient questions in-office and by phone as directed.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain a professional, compassionate patient experience.
