About The Position

Pacific Cancer Care (PCC) is seeking a compassionate detail‑oriented, and motivated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our new Los Gatos Medical Oncology clinic , opening in 2026. As an integral member of our expanding care team, the MA will support medical oncologists and nursing staff in delivering safe, efficient, and patient‑centered oncology care. This role is ideal for a clinically skilled MA who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates effectively, and is committed to supporting patients and families through every stage of their cancer journey.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, NHA, or equivalent) required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • 1 year of back-office clinical experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in oncology care and familiarity with oncology terminology, treatment workflows, and patient flow.
  • Front-office experience, including scheduling, check-in, and patient communication.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs, and assists with histories and medication updates.
  • Prepares exam rooms and supports providers by identifying patient needs and recognizing changes in condition.
  • Provides patient instructions and education as directed.
  • Safely prepares and administers subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal injections commonly used in medical oncology.
  • Performs required injection checks, understands indications and side effects, and documents accurately in ONCO EMR.
  • Performs blood draws, specimen handling, and lab processing following OSHA and safety standards.
  • Coordinates diagnostic tests, labs, and obtains external records to support provider decision making.
  • Navigates ONCO EMR to record vitals, update medication lists, manage injection workflows, schedule visits, and complete documentation.
  • Scans, uploads, and manages medical records with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Supports daily clinic operations, manages schedules efficiently, assists with procedure preparation, and communicates effectively with the care team.
  • Handles patient messages, assists with direct admissions when needed, and supports front-office tasks.
  • Ensures HIPAA compliance, OSHA adherence, and maintains PCC standards for patient-centered, compassionate care.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
