About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. The Department of Hematology & Medical Oncology is comprised of physicians, nurses, researchers, advanced practice providers (APP) and other healthcare professionals specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancers or disorders of the blood. We believe in compassionate patient care and we will always put patients and their family members first. By joining the Medical Oncology team as a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. You will assist with rooming patients, reconciling their health information, answering in-basket messages, answering patient questions, providing reassurance, and communicating provider recommendations to patients. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. Additionally, you will receive ample opportunities to enhance your skills, gain hands-on experience and explore advanced positions at Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
  • Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
  • Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required within new hire period

Nice To Haves

  • CMA, NCMA or CCMA certification
  • Successful completion of a CC Externship

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collecting specimens and documenting patient care.
  • Update health maintenance at patient visits, accurately identify medication changes and update allergy information at each visit.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain examination areas.
  • Assist in pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.
  • Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
