About The Position

We are recruiting for a motivated Medical Assistant (MA) - Westside PRN to join our team! We are here for life’s journey. Where is your life journey taking you? Under general supervision, assists provider including all back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as; invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions. Assists the RN with clinical clerical functions. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic.

Requirements

  • Certificate from a clinical Medical Assistant school or Accredited program of Licensed Practical Nursing with an active LPN license.
  • Completion of a 160 hour Externship or 6 months direct patient care experience in an outpatient setting.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently takes vital signs and basic historical patient data.
  • Identifies abnormal patient findings.
  • Communicates patient concerns or significant changes in patient’s health status to provider or RN.
  • Assists provider in setting up for procedures including aseptic and sterile techniques; provides safe administration of medications and immunizations.
  • Obtains EKGs, orders appropriate tests as directed by provider; and schedules specialty and follow-up appointments as directed by provider.
  • Prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, cast or splint applications, minor procedures.
  • Assists in the coordination of clerical information necessary to provide patient care.
  • Checks in patient by escorting patients from reception area to exam room and communicates information regarding any extended wait or delay in appointment time.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately in patient medical record.
  • Reports change in patient condition to appropriate health care provider in a timely manner.
  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments/supplies.
  • Maintains a safe environment by practicing sound safety and infection control practices according to agency policies and procedures.
  • Engages in performance appraisal on a routine basis by accepting and providing constructive feedback.
  • May perform phlebotomy and perform various laboratory procedures after competency verified.
