About The Position

The position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Advocate Health, specifically in the Family Medicine department at Lakeshore Cudahy. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, available from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. The pay range for this position is $23.65 - $35.50, with actual compensation based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training. The role involves preparing and rooming patients for exams, performing laboratory procedures, assisting physicians with procedures, administering medications, and providing patient education. The LPN will also be responsible for maintaining exam rooms and equipment, participating in patient-centered initiatives, and demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 45 days.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
  • Performs laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
  • Administers medications under physician/provider orders.
  • Initiates, maintains, and discontinues IV therapy with limitations.
  • Provides basic patient education on tasks, skills, treatment, and self-care.
  • Follows through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, and referrals.
  • Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team.
  • Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
  • Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills under clinical supervision.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab, and work areas.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
  • Participates in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
