About The Position

The position is for a Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Advocate Health system, specifically in the Float Pool East. The role is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule available Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. The position involves travel to multiple locations including Cudahy, South Milwaukee, Franklin, St. Francis, and Milwaukee. The pay range for the MA is $21.45 - $32.20, while for the LPN it is $23.65 - $35.50, depending on qualifications and experience. The role includes a variety of responsibilities related to patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • LPN: Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • GED or High School Equivalency Diploma.
  • LPN: Completion of an accredited program in Practical Nursing.
  • MA: Completion of an accredited program in Medical Assistant or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience.

  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including navigation within a windows operating system and electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, and screenings.
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab-related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection, and results tracking.
  • Completes CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
  • Performs other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and appointment scheduling.
  • Cross-trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are in working order.
