About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled nursing care and administers medications to patients under the supervision of a professional Registered Nurse, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from the state of employment or LPN applicant (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (required)
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (may be required for specialty areas)
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (may be required for specialty areas)
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (may be required for specialty areas)
  • 1 year of clinical patient care experience in an acute care setting, long-term care facility, or physician practice (preferred)
  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia class with passing grade on exam (required for Telemetry/Remote Telemetry units)

Nice To Haves

  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the nursing process including data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's plan of care.
  • Gives direct nursing care and assists with patient care at the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Physician.
  • Contributes to the plan of care with input from patient/family and other healthcare team members.
  • Performs patient data collection and observation considering various patient needs.
  • Collects and documents objective and subjective data, including focused observations.
  • Implements patient care in a safe and knowledgeable manner.
  • Administers ordered medications and treatments as prescribed by a Licensed Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Performs phlebotomy services.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of the patient's response to nursing interventions and communicates findings to the healthcare team.
  • Recognizes and reports significant changes in the patient's condition.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of a diverse patient population.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures and reports potential safety issues.
  • Delegates nursing tasks in accordance with the local State Board of Nursing Administrative Code.
  • Accepts accountability for delivery of care for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Complies with all HIPPA and OSHA policies.
  • Practices infection control procedures.
