About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Lawrenceburg Pediatrics provides clinical support to physicians and mid-level providers. This role involves escorting patients to exam rooms, measuring vital signs, documenting patient history, and assisting providers during examinations. The MA is responsible for compliance with OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations and ensuring the completion of all duties vital to business operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• One year of experience as an MA, CNA, or other allied health experience, or completion of an MA externship, SEP MA internship, EMT certification program, or a degree in Health or Biological Sciences with hands-on clinical patient care activities.

Nice To Haves

• An approved credential such as CCMA, CMA, RMA, ARMA, or EMT.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and interview patients.
• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in patients' charts.
• Provide clear direction to patients and address their concerns about the exam.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during examinations.
• Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of providers.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory tests.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the provider.
• Ensure all information is complete and accurate in patient charts.
• Maintain adequate levels of supplies in exam rooms and workstations.
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms and perform maintenance on equipment.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with patient requests and manage telephone messages.
• Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff.
• Complete referral processes and outpatient test scheduling.
• Interact with the Central Billing Office to resolve patient issues.
