About The Position

Bartlett Regional Hospital is searching for a Medical Assistant to join our Surgery & Specialty Clinics team! The Medical Assistant 1 is an entry-level position supporting multi-specialty clinic functions by participating in direct patient care during office visits, in-office procedures, and the post-operative period for dermatology, oncology, and ophthalmology. Incumbents perform assistance with procedures depending on their knowledge and training under direct and general supervision of a physician or licensed health care provider. The Medical Assistant 1 supports the Registered Nurse, Lead Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Assistant 2, and Office Manager in the day-to-day flow of the surgery/specialty practice. The Medical Assistant 2 is the journey level of the Medical Assistant series, serving as a mentor to Medical Assistant 1 positions and performing assistance with all procedures under general supervision of a physician or licensed health care provider.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Twelve (12) months clerical experience in a healthcare setting required; Or Six (6) months experience as a Certified Nurse Aid for Medical Assistant 1.
• Six (6) months of experience as a Medical Assistant I; Or Six (6) months experience performing ambulatory or medical care working directly with patients; Or Three (3) years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting for Medical Assistant 2.
• Certification as per Mandatory Education Policy and complete requirements within the given timeline upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• A Medical Assistant Certificate may substitute for the experience requirement for Medical Assistant 2.
• Two (2) years of Post-secondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement for Medical Assistant 2.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, taking health history, vitals, reconciling medication lists, and presentation to the general surgeon or specialty provider.
• Assisting in the business operations of the clinic including answering the phone, scheduling appointments, and filing records.
• Coordinating the scheduling of radiology studies, endoscopy cases, and surgical cases for all clinic specialties.
• Providing administrative and clinical support for the RN, LPN, Insurance Verification Specialists, and the Surgery Scheduler.

Benefits

• Starting salary for Medical Assistant 1 is $22.40 per hour.
• Starting salary for Medical Assistant 2 is $26.28 per hour.
