The Women’s Primary Care is a team of providers who collaborate closely with the nursing and leadership team to support patients seeking family medicine care at the Sanford Women’s Plaza. The Integrative Health team consists of an advance practice provider, clinical, exercise and acupuncture staff who provide an integrative approach to patient care by providing appointments and therapies such as aromatherapy, acupuncture, acupressure, yoga and guided imagery. The Medical Assistant (MA) functions within the administration pre-defined scope of practice guidelines per state location of practice.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Nationally certified or registered as a Medical Assistant (MA).
  • Certification (CMA) obtained through a nationally approved certification program for medical assistant.
  • Registration (RMA) obtained through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) is also acceptable.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Familiarity with integrative health practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collect subjective and objective health status data from the patient or caregiver and communicate this data to the health care provider.
  • Participate in the care of patients by providing contributing data to licensed health care professionals.
  • Follow through on the patient's plan of care under the direction of the provider.
  • Communicate the provider's written instructions for care to the patient or caregiver.
  • Participate in care for patients across the lifespan in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Perform a variety of duties under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine.
  • Obtain vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, observe and report patient's signs or symptoms, and perform point of care testing.
