About The Position

HealthPartners North Suburban Family Physicians has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant (LPN/CMA/RMA/EMT) to join our team! This .68 fte position will be based at our Lino Lakes clinic with potential coverage at our Roseville and Hugo clinics. This position is eligible for a $1,000 hiring bonus! The schedule for this role will be: Tuesday 6:45am - 4:30pm, Wednesday 8:45am - 6:15pm, Friday 7:45am - 5:15pm.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • FOR LPN: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current LPN license in Minnesota.
  • FOR MA: Graduate of an accredited MA program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT License.
  • FOR RMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program and current Registration through AAMA or AMT.
  • FOR CMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program and Current Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA or AMT.
  • Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT.
  • At least six months recent (within the last 3 years) experience in a direct patient care setting.
  • Computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions that support/provide patient care.
  • Room patients according to rooming and/or clinic guidelines.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements accurately.
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and document according to North Suburban Family Physicians policy.
  • Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to today’s encounter.
  • Provide needed and requested health educational materials to the patient and document.
  • Handle patients and their records in a private and confidential manner per North Suburban Family Physicians policies.
  • Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms for examination of the patient and set up for procedures.
  • Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
  • Assist the provider as needed during examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare charts and maintain station records, including checking MSRs for completion and routing appropriately.
  • Prepare lab, x-ray, and miscellaneous forms when requested.
  • Process drug refills according to clinic protocols.
  • Monitor station logs as assigned.
  • Prepare charts for patient appointments according to established practices and procedures.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location.
  • Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person/location.
  • Gather necessary information from callers and relay to the appropriate provider for follow-up.
  • Inform the reception desk of provider’s schedule status and assist in coordination of schedule changes.
  • Perform patient correspondence when requested.
  • Assist patients in completing forms when appropriate.
  • Support infection control and OSHA standards through cleaning and sterilizing procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas and document completion.
  • Implement other infection control procedures as needed.
  • Adhere to protective clothing requirements.
  • Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and organized.
  • Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner.
  • Check merchandise against packing slips upon receiving supplies and report damages and discrepancies.
  • Prepare returns for shipment with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain adequate stocking of designated areas and routinely check expiration dates.
  • Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic/location protocol.
  • Keep all equipment properly maintained and maintain adequate records.
  • Keep an inventory of instruments and equipment current.
  • Calibrate and maintain instruments and equipment in proper working order, documenting all maintenance.
  • Maintain current or compliant status as determined by the appropriate accrediting body.
  • Work at any of the North Suburban Family Physicians clinics depending on clinic need.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
