About The Position

HealthPartners North Suburban Family Physicians has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant (LPN/CMA/RMA/EMT) to join our team! This casual role will support our North Suburban Family Physicians clinics including our Hugo Urgent care. You can pick up shifts that work for you! Shift length vary between 6-12 hours Monday – Friday between 6:45am – 8pm, Saturday/Sunday between 7:30am – 5pm (Urgent care only). Weekends are not required. We prefer individuals with weekly availability and flexibility, and we require a minimum of 2 days/month. New hires must have availability to train 3-4 days per week (Monday-Friday) for the first several weeks. The length of training is based on experience level.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • For LPN: Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current LPN license in Minnesota.
  • For MA: Graduate of an accredited MA program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT License.
  • For RMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program and current Registration through AAMA or AMT.
  • For CMA: Graduate of an accredited MA program and Current Medical Assistant Certification through AAMA or AMT.
  • Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required and maintained.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including appropriate use of English grammar and spelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to function with multiple priorities and interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT.
  • At least six months recent (within the last 3 years) experience in a direct patient care setting.
  • Computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functions that support/provide patient care.
  • Room patients according to rooming and/or clinic guidelines.
  • Obtain and record vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements accurately.
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and document according to North Suburban Family Physicians policy.
  • Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to today’s encounter.
  • Provide needed and requested health educational materials to the patient and document.
  • Handle patients and their records in a private and confidential manner per North Suburban Family Physicians policies.
  • Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms for examination of the patient and set up for procedures.
  • Prepare charts for patient appointments according to established practices and procedures.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location.
  • Monitor station logs and prepare lab, x-ray, and miscellaneous forms when requested.
  • Perform cleaning and sterilizing procedures to support infection control and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain clinic supplies and ensure adequate stocking and organization.
  • Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain current or compliant status as determined by the appropriate accrediting body.
