About The Position

The Medical Assistant (LPN, CMA or EMT) at Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin is responsible for supporting high-quality patient care as part of a care team. This role involves performing technical, clinical, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth workflow and enhance the patient care experience in the clinic. The position requires collaboration with Registered Nurses and Medical Providers to manage and coordinate patient care effectively.

Requirements

  • Must have completed an MA training program, LPN training program, or EMT training from an accredited program.
  • Medical Assistants must be eligible for and receive national certification within six months of employment or have three years of MA experience with current certification.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses must have current licensure in Wisconsin or obtain it within six months of employment.
  • Emergency Medical Technicians must have a valid Wisconsin license as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required.
  • Ability to travel to various work sites and possess a valid Wisconsin driver license.
  • One year of relevant experience in a clinic or outpatient setting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of standard clinical procedures according to established protocols and policies is required.
  • Ability to use and maintain equipment, materials, and supplies used during treatment is required.
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications such as MS Office and electronic medical record systems is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPIC is desirable.
  • Typing speed of a minimum of 30 WPM with minimal errors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of a care team to support high-quality patient care.
  • Engage patients in maintaining their physical and mental well-being.
  • Perform pre-visit preparation and monitor patient flow.
  • Room patients and obtain patient histories and vital signs.
  • Manage certain test results following protocols.
  • Support Epic in-basket workflow and return phone calls.
  • Assist with medical examinations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses and Medical Providers in patient care management.
  • Review team/provider in-baskets and My Chart messages for the assigned care team.
