About The Position

The Medical Assistant at LGMD Orthopedics Clinic is responsible for providing individualized medical care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. This role involves assisting in the delivery of healthcare services, maintaining positive relationships with patients and their families, and ensuring efficient patient flow during visits. The Medical Assistant will communicate with patients via phone and in person, document medical information, and support the healthcare team in various capacities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with and maintaining confidential information in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Clinical knowledge.
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Ensures the patient's questions are answered prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through personal professional development.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as required.
