About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) Lead is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice. The MA Lead maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performs patient care services that support the physician / provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, physicians assistant or licensed Vocational Nurse. This includes assisting in prepping patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data. Documenting patient concerns, patient messages, and care provided to the patient in the patients medical record for the physician's review. Administrating medications specifically directed by the physician and performing accurate vital sign measurements and documentation. The lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the back office and other duties as assigned by the area manager. Demonstrates active listening with positive can do attitude. Consistently respectful, concerned, and shows empathy. Consistently and pro-actively greets patients when within 3 feet of them. Engages in professional business related conversations in patient areas and avoids personal conversations where patients may hear them. Consistently states first name and wears name badge above the waist. Keeps patient informed about appointment delays and offers solutions. Consistently demonstrates competence as outlined in the applicable tools and job description. Meets or exceeds telephone performance expectations consistently by answering within 3 rings and keeping abandonment rates below 5%. Takes legible, clear, complete, and accurate messages per specific expectations outlined by applicable procedures and department supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program. Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours to satisfy the education requirements.
  • Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant along with demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required.
  • American Heart Association BLS

Nice To Haves

  • One year of MA experience
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
  • Previous experience in designated specialty
  • Bilingual skills
