About The Position

Cross Road Health Ministries is a faith-based, nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving rural Alaska. Our mission is to show the love of the Lord Jesus Christ through accessible, quality health care. We are seeking a Medical Assistant / Laboratory Technician who enjoys working in a collaborative rural healthcare environment and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and communities. This position combines clinical medical assisting with laboratory and phlebotomy responsibilities. The role supports providers with patient care while also performing specimen collection, processing, and basic laboratory testing under supervision. This is a full-time position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS / CPR certification
• Ability to obtain Clinical Lab Assistant Certificate within 1 year
• Positive and patient-focused
• Organized and self-directed
• Comfortable working in a rural clinic
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assistant training or certification
• Phlebotomy experience
• At least one year experience in a medical setting

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care and clinic workflow
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for visits
• Document information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Support urgent care and observation services when needed
• Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks)
• Process and prepare specimens for testing or reference labs
• Perform clinic laboratory testing under supervision
• Enter and verify results in the EHR
• Maintain laboratory equipment and perform quality control
• Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory
• Assist with lab reports and documentation
• Support a collaborative team environment focused on high-quality patient care
