The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physicians, PA, or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures. Essential Job Functions include preparing the examination room, escorting patients, cleaning examination rooms, maintaining efficient patient flow, ensuring proper preparation for patient visits, and preparing pertinent information needed for patient visits. The MA communicates and provides care consistent with the age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of the patient, answers the telephone appropriately, directs calls, schedules appointments, stocks examination rooms, reconciles encounters daily, and communicates problems to the Supervisor or Manager. The MA also obtains vital signs, documents in EHR, reviews medication lists, and adheres to safety precautions when administering medications. The role requires physical mobility, agility, dexterity, and endurance, with environmental risks including allergens and combative patients. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
