Our Mass General Brigham Medical Group community healthcare center in Haverhill located at 1 Park Way has the latest in diagnostics, technology, and research. We proudly offer our patients unparalleled acute, chronic, and wellness care. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support our Internal Medicine practice onsite Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm. This office provides physical examinations, routine health screenings and preventative care for adult patients. Dedicated to clinical support, our Medical Assistants are trained to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the multidisciplinary care team. At our practice, Medical Assistants work 1 to 1 with their assigned Provider, allowing a strong partnership to be formed. We find that this structure enhances communication, improves efficiency, and personalizes patient care, ultimately leading to a better experience for all parties involved. The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated
  • Certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider (for providing immunizations)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
