The Medical Assistant (MA) Intern is a temporary position funded through a grant program and is responsible for learning the Medical Assistant trade at Intermountain Health. The MA Intern is responsible for always having clear lines of communication with their supervising team. The MA Intern will observe patient-oriented procedures under the direction and supervision Practice Manager, clinician, RN, or LPN throughout the different divisions at Intermountain Healthcare. The MA Intern will have the opportunity to practice with direct supervision the patient-oriented procedures and will have the opportunity to review with the MA Preceptor all areas of skills assessment improvement opportunities. The MA Intern is expected to provide feedback to their MA Preceptor on areas they may be struggling with so the MA Preceptor can work with the MA Intern to provide additional coaching or scenarios that allow for practice of skills. The MA Intern will be responsible for a wide variety of clinical and administrative tasks under the direction and guidance of experienced professionals. About Our Clinic: St. Mary's Family Medicine Clinic has been providing primary care services to Western Colorado's highest-need patients for 45 years! We are a training site for Family Medicine Physicians, and many of our MA staff go on to complete higher training in healthcare-related fields. Our patient population is primarily made up of underserved and marginalized patients. Internship Details: Position Availability: Only 1 position available per graduating class. Training: 225 hours of on-the-job training in our clinic. Compensation: Paid at $18.81/hour (benefits not included). Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 8 hours per day; Wednesday - 4 hours. Additional Stipend: $5,000 payment at the start of the internship and $5,000 at completion. Our goal is to help provide for a student's biggest needs that might make doing an internship difficult (e.g., childcare, transportation, rent, etc.). Stipend is taxed at bonus rate per IRS guidelines.
