About The Position

American Institute, founded in 1924 as the Hartford Secretarial School, provides hands-on training for careers in the world of business, legal, allied healthcare, diagnostic medical sonography, and information technology. A Medical Assistant Instructor or Faculty member cultivates the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance, and review in order to ensure the successful academic program and personal development of each student. Although you will be provided with most teaching materials, you may be required and are expected if necessary to enhance the curriculum. This can include devising assignments, worksheets, notes, tests and answer keys, and activities. Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for comprehensive course instruction within specified program
  • Responsible for providing Program Director/Director of Education with active input in course development (i.e., course descriptions, syllabus creation, textbook material, or equipment review).
  • Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson
  • Responsible for continued professional growth by attending in-service training and/or continuing education seminars and to attend faculty meetings.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic
  • Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students’ academic growth and guides their professional development.
  • Responsible for keeping DOE apprised of student progress (i.e., academic and attendance), especially in terms of performance trends detrimental to the development of a firm educational foundation (academic advisement and early warning forms).
  • Responsible for providing extra help to those students experiencing difficulty in the mastery of course work.
  • Responsible for advising students who have minor problems which may be thwarting educational
  • Responsible for referring students whom have major problems to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments within 48 hours to
  • Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available resources in the online
  • Responsible to demonstrate utilization of community resources through arranging guest speakers, field trips and class participation in community service events.
  • Report damaged, broken, or malfunction equipment immediately to the Program Director/Director of Education.
  • Required to turn in grades within 48 hours of the end of term
  • Perform other duties as required by the Program Director/Director of Education.
