Responsibilities

  • Interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Obtain, identify, and record vital signs, medications, and other pertinent patient information.
  • Observe, record, and report patient symptoms and conditions, and communicate any adverse observations to the RN or practitioner.
  • Anticipate provider needs during patient procedures and adjust to changes in assignments or workload as directed.
  • Prepare rooms and instruments for exams or procedures and assist with various patient care tasks.
  • Collect, label, and process specimens as required by the practitioner.
  • Review written instructions with patients regarding diagnostic tests and treatments as ordered.
  • Coordinate with nursing supervisors and other departments to maintain patient care standards.
  • Apply and remove dressings and assist with minor surgical procedures as delegated.
  • Document patient care interactions and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, safe, and operable, and report any malfunctions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Assist with non-clinical inquiries and customer service for patients and families.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate practitioner schedules.
