About The Position

The Medical Assistant II at AltaMed plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care and ensuring a positive patient experience. This position involves performing routine patient care procedures, managing patient expectations, and supporting the M.A. team as a mentor and trainer. The M.A. II is expected to build relationships with patients, document care in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), and assist with administrative responsibilities, all while demonstrating compassion and respect.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant certificate along with a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current valid BLS certificate required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a back office Medical Assistant required; 3 years preferred.
• Prior experience as a 'lead' strongly preferred.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Function as an AltaMed ambassador, welcoming and attentive to patient needs.
• Assist in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine procedures.
• Manage patient expectations and create a positive patient experience.
• Document all specialties in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide feedback on Back Office processes to the Nursing Supervisor/Manager.
• Support and guide the M.A. team as a mentor and trainer.
• Perform additional duties over the telephone when working at the Patient Service Center.
