About The Position

This position is for a full-time medical assistant working nearly exclusively with our nurse practitioner to complete follow-up care for patients that have received radiation therapy. The position is full-time within the University of Tennessee Medical Center's Cancer Institute in the Radiation Oncology Department.

Requirements

  • Certified clinical medical assistant (CCMA) certificate
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Candidates who have worked in healthcare as a medical assistant will be given priority

Responsibilities

  • Rooming and intaking radiation oncology follow-up patients
  • Working with patients to schedule and reschedule follow-up diagnostic scans (CT, MRI, etc.)
  • Calling patients to confirm and change appointments as needed
  • Answering patients' questions over the phone
  • Sending and following-up on outgoing referrals after the patients' follow-up appointments including sending records to other offices
  • Occasionally filling in / assisting our nursing team with patients that are currently receiving radiation therapy
  • Working closely with the nurse practitioner, nursing, and front desk team within the department
