About The Position

This Medical Assistant role supports a busy clinic providing care to both adults and infants. The primary focus is patient rooming, clinical support, and assisting providers with exams, treatments, and testing. Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, the Medical Assistant performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction in accordance with organizational standards. This includes ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, maintaining smooth patient flow, performing general lab work, instructing patients on procedures and treatments, and ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and timely. The role also involves registration and scheduling activities, maintaining EMR files, and performing general front office functions. Computerized physician order entry may be performed if directed by the assigned physician. The Medical Assistant II is also expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Nice To Haves

  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
