About The Position

ChristianaCare Wilmington Thrive Primary Care is searching for a Medical Assistant II. Wilmington Thrive Primary Care is located on the Wilmington campus. The address is 501 West 14th Street, 4th Floor of the Gateway Building in Wilmington, Delaware. The practice has a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, one full-time Primary Care physician, and one part-time Cardiologist. As the practice expands and grows, additional caregivers will be allocated. As the Medical Assistant II, will focus on ensuring high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting healthcare providers during examinations and treatments for both virtual and on-site appointments. The Medical Assistant II entails taking on a leadership role, mentoring office staff, and facilitating various operational functions and duties within the practice. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients
  • Recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Injections
  • Medication administration
  • EKGs according to practice needs
  • Assisting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary supplies
  • Complete patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring that all pertinent test results are up to date for upcoming patient visits
  • Provides adequate coverage amid staff shortages
  • Participates in new hire orientations and educational initiatives as directed
  • Handles patient callbacks as instructed by providers
  • Adheres to state guidelines for sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, medical refills, and scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries
  • Quality control of all POCT equipment is conducted
  • Assists providers with documentation during examinations
  • Clerical duties as assigned
  • Ordering and maintaining clinical supplies
  • Ensuring safe work practices
