About The Position

This Medical Assistant II role is for a collaborative, patient-centered clinic in Brownsburg, IN, with a strong team of 11 MAs. The position involves supporting both clinical and clerical functions to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality patient care. Under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, the MA II performs direct patient care duties, clinical direction, assures completeness of procedures and treatments, manages patient flow, conducts general lab work, instructs patients, and ensures timely execution of medical orders and referrals. Additionally, the role includes registration, scheduling, EMR file maintenance, and general front office tasks. The MA II may also perform computerized physician order entry when directed and is expected to precept current MA team members or externs.

Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
  • Current certification in medical assisting required from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Experience Preferred
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire

  • Perform general clinical Medical Assistant duties
  • Support patient flow and efficient clinic operations
  • Balance hands-on clinical tasks with clerical responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients and care team members
  • Assure completeness of ordered procedures and treatments
  • Assure smooth patient flow
  • Perform general lab work
  • Instruct patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs
  • Ensure medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures
  • Maintain EMR files
  • Perform general front office functions as needed
  • Perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician
  • Precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership
