The Medical Assistant II plays a meaningful role in supporting individuals receiving outpatient psychiatric services by creating a welcoming, organized, and compassionate clinical experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the applicable state
  • One year of experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred
  • Phlebotomy training and prior laboratory experience preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding protocols
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across in-person, phone, and virtual platforms
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Capacity to follow instructions, accept supervision, and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Successful completion of background checks including criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screening
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
  • Repetitive use of hands, fingers, and arms for typing, writing, and clinical tasks
  • Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing as needed
  • Capacity to safely move throughout clinic and residential environments during assigned duties

Responsibilities

  • Support physicians and nursing staff by assisting with patient care, examinations, and treatments
  • Prepare and room clients by verifying medical history, collecting vital signs, and ensuring readiness for appointments
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections, and laboratory testing while communicating results to providers and nursing staff
  • Maintain a welcoming clinic environment by assisting with client check-in, answering questions, and providing service information
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling, prior authorizations, chart management, and clinic injection calendars
  • Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms, lab areas, and medication rooms, including inventory management and temperature logs
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments and advocate for their rights and continuity of care
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, specialists, and internal teams regarding medical needs and follow-up
  • Conduct health and medical reviews as directed and support discharge planning and hospital coordination
  • Travel to residential locations as assigned and provide direct support to medically involved individuals when needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational policies
  • Participate in required meetings and perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership
