Requirements

  • Completion of accredited medical Assistant program
  • Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
  • Current AHA or American Red Cross BLS certification for healthcare providers with hands on component preferred or within 60 days of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting is required
  • Documented proficiency in additional skills i.e. Phlebotomy, Quality Metrics/VBC, and/or Precepting

Nice To Haves

  • Athena EMR experience

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients, adhere to rooming guidelines, vitals, accurately documents in the EMR, basic tests/procedures, medications and vaccines
  • Utilizes all standard and specialized equipment such as spirometry, nebulizers and audiometry
  • Has pediatric vaccine knowledge and administers pediatric vaccines
  • Document patient information in the EMR accurately
  • Adheres to and teaches established policies and procedures including but not limited to infection control, HIPPA, and safety protocols
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and flexibility to support other providers, departments and mentors staff
  • Reviews patients schedules, performs encounter preparation, and escalates appropriately within scope
  • Supports providers in Value Based Care initiatives
  • Clinical inbox management for self and for provider
  • Cross trained to work in other departments, roles and locations
  • Covers Nurse/MA Visits Schedule and performs ancillary procedures
  • POD/Station lead for compliance/inventory
  • Participates in assigned clinical related projects
  • Proficiency in prescription refills per protocol and patient instructions
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
  • Serve as a preceptor for onboarding and training of new MAs
  • Support care coordination efforts including referrals and prior authorizations
  • Identify clinical workflow improvements and share recommendations with leadership
  • Support EMR documentation, including chart preparation and accurate note entry
  • Relay provider instructions to patients and follow up as directed
  • Communicate with Care Team to maintain efficient clinic flow across all functions
