The Medical Assistant II prepares and maintains exam rooms, prepares charts, obtains reports and records, assists with patient flow, and ensures the overall smooth running of the clinical office. This role involves direct interaction with patients in a clinic setting, performing clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, completing phlebotomy, and verifying medications. Responsibilities also include preparing for office hours, assisting with examinations, procedures, and lab tests. The Medical Assistant II may assist with the renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications and administer medications, including vaccines and injections, under the order of physicians or nurse practitioners. The position requires maintaining HIPAA compliance, skills/competencies, participating in in-services, staff programs, continuing education, cross-training, and quality improvement activities, while complying with OSHA, state, and federal regulatory standards.
