About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II to work in our NEW Urbandale Clinic. Our medical assistants are responsible to help a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met and provides access to additional care options. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. This position also includes FREE on-site parking as well! Staff will support our Urbandale Clinic and will float to multiple locations/clinics based on staffing need. Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment. Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant OR
  • Registration as a Medical Assistant OR
  • Completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours

Nice To Haves

  • Previous (minimum 2 year) experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Previous experience in a pediatric clinic
  • Previous experience in a pediatric/adult specialty clinic
  • Previous phlebotomy experience
  • Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR – Epic, Word, etc.
