About The Position

The Medical Assistant II at Elevance Health is responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. This role involves providing both front and back office support, ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out, and performing various clinical tasks such as measuring vital signs and administering prescribed medications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Active, current, and valid Medical Assistant certification.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy background strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides front and/or back office support.
• Greets patients in a friendly, service-oriented manner in compliance with Care Center or Medical Group Practice protocols.
• Oversees patient check-in by ensuring medical records are current and appropriate paperwork is in order.
• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records reasons for visits.
• Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication.
• Oversees patient check-out by scheduling follow-up appointments and collecting co-payments.
• Schedules and confirms patient appointments.
• Reconciles co-payments at the end of each day.
