About The Position

The Medical Assistant II position at the Multi-Specialty Clinic of Methodist is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, with working hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position does not require working on weekends or holidays. The clinic is located at 1801 N. Senate Blvd, Suite 3300, Indianapolis, IN 46202. The role involves a variety of tasks related to patient care and administrative support, ensuring a smooth patient flow and assisting with minor procedures under supervision.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification
  • Previous MA experience preferred
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
  • Current certification in medical assisting from recognized organizations (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, CMAC)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills required

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and preparing them for provider visits
  • Assisting with pool messages and patient communications
  • Processing referrals and coordinating with other departments
  • Scheduling follow-up visits and managing appointments for care coordination
  • Providing support for in-clinic minor procedures
  • Performing duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction
  • Assuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments
  • Performing general lab work and instructing patients concerning procedures and treatments
  • Ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and timely
  • Performing registration and scheduling activities per organizational procedures
  • Maintaining EMR files and performing general front office functions
  • May perform computerized physician order entry if directed by assigned physician
  • Precepting current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership
