About The Position

The Medical Assistant II position at Riley Pediatric Primary Care in Carmel is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week during daytime hours. The clinic is located at 14828 Greyhound Ct, Suite 100, Carmel, IN 46032, with working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and some weekends may be required. The role involves performing various tasks associated with direct patient care under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician. Responsibilities include rooming patients, administering immunizations and medications, messaging, and ensuring the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments. The Medical Assistant will also maintain smooth patient flow, perform general lab work, instruct patients on procedures and treatments, and ensure that medical orders and referrals are executed accurately and timely. Additional duties include registration and scheduling activities, maintaining EMR files, and performing general front office functions as needed. The position may also involve computerized physician order entry if directed by the assigned physician. The Medical Assistant is expected to precept current MA team members or MA externs as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • Current MA certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification in medical assisting from recognized organizations (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, CMAC).
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty.
  • Basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.
