About The Position

The position is for a Medical Assistant in the Pulmonary Medicine department at Advocate Health, located in Morton Grove. This is a full-time role with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The role includes various responsibilities related to patient care and administrative tasks, adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice. The pay range for this position is between $22.50 and $33.75 per hour, with a $2500 sign-on bonus for external hires.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Certification as a CMA or RMA by recognized national organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) certification may be required within 1 year in select areas.
  • Demonstrates professional practice advancement through various roles such as safety coach or super-user.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
  • Performs lab-related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, and preparation of lab orders.
  • Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests.
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, and appointment scheduling.
  • Demonstrates effective and timely communication and teamwork.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment and supplies are in working order.
  • May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates.
