About The Position

The Medical Assistant II-Primary Care position in Mooresville is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, structured as four 10-hour shifts. The position is located at 820 N Samuel Moore Pkwy Ste A, Mooresville IN 46158. Non-certified candidates are welcome to apply for consideration for a Medical Assistant I position. Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, the Medical Assistant performs duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care in accordance with the organization standards. Responsibilities include ensuring the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, facilitating smooth patient flow, performing general lab work, instructing patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner. The role also involves performing registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures, maintaining EMR files, and performing general front office functions as needed. The Medical Assistant may perform computerized physician order entry if directed by the assigned physician and is expected to precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification in medical assisting required from recognized organizations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
  • Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
