About The Position

The position involves preparing and maintaining exam rooms, preparing charts, obtaining reports and records, assisting with patient flow, and ensuring the overall smooth running of the clinical office. The role includes direct interaction with patients in a clinic setting, completing clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs, conducting EKGs, performing phlebotomy, and verifying medications. The individual will assist with examinations, procedures, and lab tests, and may administer medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioners. The job also entails communication and documentation responsibilities, equipment and supply management, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant with six months of related work experience.
  • Medical Assistant credentials must be obtained from in-person proctored exams.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

  • Medical Assistant experience (2 years).

Responsibilities

  • Interacts directly with patients in clinic setting and completes clinical tasks.
  • Obtains vital signs, conducts EKGs, performs phlebotomy, and verifies medications.
  • Prepares for office hours by obtaining charts, scheduling tests, and preparing exam rooms.
  • Assists with examinations, procedures, and lab tests.
  • May assist with renewal and authorization of non-narcotic medications.
  • Administers medications under the order of physicians or nurse practitioners.
  • Directs patient flow and assists with special procedures/treatments.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Answers basic questions from patients/families regarding treatments, diagnosis, and procedures.
  • Monitors supply inventory and ensures compliance with regulations.
  • Cleans and stocks exam rooms and sterilizes instruments.
  • Maintains required HIPAA compliance and participates in continuing education.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
