About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required or Associates Degree and Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work - Minimum 1 Year Required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a complex and busy environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take vital signs, manual blood pressures, collect blood samples and other specimens.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities, facilitating their learning through onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, interviewing patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height, recording this information in the patients' medical records.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates, providing immunizations as applicable, which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine under supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
