This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients, including preparing patient rooms, escorting patients to rooms, taking vitals, documenting patient information, assisting physicians with procedures, and educating patients on specimen collection. It also involves performing clerical or administrative duties in support of clinical operations. This is a clinical technologist role requiring specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience, most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. It is a senior-level role requiring broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and vocational or technical education. The position works under limited supervision for routine situations, handles non-routine problems requiring analysis, provides assistance, may lead and train entry-level employees, and may lead daily operational activities. Under general supervision of licensed personnel, this position is responsible for continuous, efficient, and smooth patient flow in the outpatient/ambulatory setting. It acts as a patient liaison through both clinical and administrative responsibilities, playing an important role in the revenue cycle process, clinical operations, and patient experience. The role responds to hourly variations in patient volume, clinician, and room availability to continually maximize efficient use of space and resources in the clinic; identifies and provides necessary clinical and administrative preparation pertaining to patient care according to protocols; and assists with patient care as warranted and within their scope of practice. The position may also administer immunizations per clinic needs.
