About The Position

The Medical Assistant II for Anesthesia/Pain Management is responsible for both patient care and administrative support, including referral screening and surgery scheduling. The position requires 2-4 years of experience, preferably in Pain Management, and involves travel within the Metro Region to various locations. The role includes performing duties associated with direct patient care under the supervision of a designated supervisor and assigned physician, ensuring the completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, and maintaining smooth patient flow. The Medical Assistant will also perform general lab work, instruct patients on procedures and treatments, and ensure that medical orders and referrals are executed accurately and timely. Additional responsibilities include registration and scheduling activities, maintaining EMR files, and performing general front office functions as needed. The position may also involve precepting current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership.

Requirements

  • Requires 2-4 years of experience, preferably in Pain Management.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required.
  • Current certification in medical assisting required from recognized associations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
  • Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Pain Management.
  • Advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty.
