About The Position
ChristianaCare Wilmington Adult Medicine is looking a Part-Time Medical Assistant I. ChristianaCare Wilmington Adult Medicine is located at 501 W. 14th Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Wilmington Adult Medicine Center serves as an academic practice, featuring physicians who are also educators and faculty members. This integration allows resident doctors to be involved in patient care alongside experienced faculty who engage in research and mentorship, fostering innovative and compassionate care teams, many of whom remain with ChristianaCare. The center enhances its primary care services through amenities such as an on-site pharmacy, diagnostic testing, social services, and various patient wellness and educational programs. The range of services provided includes preventative and sick visits for adults, palliative care, nutrition services, and geriatrics. As a Medical Assistant I , you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice. Wilmington Adult Medicine | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11am to 8pm Saturdays from 8am to 12pm 20 hours per week
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Responsibilities
- Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
- Rooming patients
- Preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
- Performing point of care testing
- Administering injections and medications
- Conducting EKGs when needed
- Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
- Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
- Completing patient-specific paperwork
- Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
- Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
- Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
- Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
- Scheduling tests and surgeries
- Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
- Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
- Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
- Troubleshooting issues with video visits
- Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
- Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
