About The Position
ChristianaCare is looking for a Medical Assistant I f or our UroGyn office in Newark, DE. Urogynecology is a specialized field focused on diagnosing and treating pelvic floor disorders affecting the bladder, uterus, vagina, and rectum. Our board‑certified physicians— the only urogynecologists in Delaware certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery—provide comprehensive care using physical therapy, medications, and surgical options ranging from minimally invasive to complex procedures. Patients may also have access to clinical research trials and innovative treatments Urogynecology | ChristianaCare As a Medical Assistant I , you will assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients, whether through virtual or on-site appointments. This role is crucial for delivering quality patient care and encompasses various clinical and clerical duties within the medical practice.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities
- Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
- Rooming patients
- Preparing patients for visits by taking and recording vital signs
- Performing point of care testing
- Administering injections and medications
- Conducting EKGs when needed
- Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
- Completing patient-specific paperwork
- Ensuring that electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
- Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
- Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
- Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
- Scheduling tests and surgeries
- Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
- Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
- Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
- Troubleshooting issues with video visits
- Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
- Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations that could potentially harm patients, staff, or visitors
