About The Position

This position involves performing a wide variety of activities that may include both direct patient care, as well as administrative and laboratory functions. Direct patient care encompasses working with patients of all ages, in-person and over the phone, utilizing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills. All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of a physician and/or mid-level provider. Medical assistants may also handle reception duties, greeting and assisting patients and visitors, and managing the business aspects of patient visits. The role is for the Cardiology department, scheduled Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, at the Springfield - Prairie Cardiovascular Clinic in Springfield, IL. Requirements

  • Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required (1 or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of program completion per department discretion)
  • Medical Assistant (MA) Certification/Registration required or must be obtained within 90 days of start date from one of the following credentialing organizations: Certified MA from AAMA, Registered MA from AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT, Certified Clinical MA (CCMA) from NHA, Registered MA from AAH, Nationally Registered CMA (NRCMA) from NAHP, Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) or Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) from AMCA, Podiatric MA Certified (PMAC) from APMA, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from IJCAHPO, Certified Clinical MA (CCMA) from NPS
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) is required within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities
