About The Position
ChristianaCare Primary Care at Smyrna is looking for a Medical Assistant I. ChristianaCare Primary Care at Smyrna is located at 100 South Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware. Primary Care at Smyrna provides extensive medical services designed for families, catering to both children and adults. The dedicated team, consisting of physicians and nurse practitioners, offers a variety of services, including primary medical care, gynecology and women's health, immunizations, physical examinations, preventive medicine, and treatment for acute and chronic conditions. Additionally, the facility features an on-site pharmacy and the Swank Center for Memory Care, enhancing their comprehensive healthcare offerings. Smyrna - Primary Care | ChristianaCare Work Schedule: Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 8am to 5pm Tuesday and Wednesday from 8am to 7pm
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Responsibilities
- Greeting and supporting patients both virtually and on-site within the practice
- Preparing them for virtual visits
- Performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs
- Assisting clinicians with examinations and procedures
- Preparing exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Completing patient-specific paperwork
- Ensuring EMR is up-to-date
- Handling patient call backs
- Sterilizing medical equipment
- Handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills
- Scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries
- Performing quality control on POCT equipment
- Providing documentation assistance
- Performing clerical duties
- Troubleshooting patient issues with video visits
- Supporting patients in joining ChristianaCare's Patient Portal
